I have organized the article in the form of a literature review to address teaching English to adult learners. Here I focus on the challenges of adult EFL learners and the influence of their learning barriers such as anxiety on their motivation. I hope that the overview of the following resources will help practicing tutors of adult students conceptualize their curricula according to the needs of the students and based on research available in this field. Anxiety, for example, often appears in adult EFL learners when they make mistakes, or cannot find a needed word in their vocabulary.
